The Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) Program by the National Science Foundation (NSF)
NSF funds a large number of research opportunities for undergraduate students through its REU Sites program. By using the NSF-REU web page, you can search for an REU Site, you may examine opportunities in the subject areas supported by various NSF units. Also, you may search by keywords to identify sites in particular research areas or with certain features, such as a particular location.
Boren Awards
Awards of $10,000 to $30,000 fund undergraduates and graduate students seeking long-term cultural and linguistic immersion in Africa, Asia, Central & Easter Europe, Eurasia, Latin America, and the Middle East.
SMART Scholarships
The SMART Scholarship-for Service Program is available to undergraduate and graduate students pursuing a technical degree in one of the 21 STEM disciplines.
The Mike and Linda Evans Dean's Endowed Scholarship
To qualify, you must be a Missouri resident that is a first year student enrolled full-time at S&T with a 3.0 or greater cumulative GPA from high school. Your household EFC has to be 12,000 or below as determined by the FAFSA. You have to be majoring in a program in the College of Arts, Sciences, and Business (CASB).
A $3,000 scholarship shall be awarded annually and is renewable as long as the recipient(s) remain in good academic standing and continue to meet all other criteria. Recipients of this prestigious award will have the opportunity to be paired with a mentor and will have access to additional funds to support professional development activities.
Ford Foundation Fellowship Program
Predoctoral fellowships (fact sheet) will be awarded in a national competition administered by the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine on behalf of the Ford Foundation. The awards will be made to individuals who, in the judgment of the review panels, have demonstrated superior academic achievement, are committed to a career in teaching and research at the college or university level, show promise of future achievement as scholars and teachers, and are well prepared to use diversity as a resource for enriching the education of all students.
AF Science & Technology Fellowship Programs Research Awards
The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine administers postdoctoral and senior research awards at the U.S. Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL), the U.S. Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT), and the U.S. Air Force Academy (USAFA) under the Air Force Science & Technology Fellowship Program (AF STFP).
We are actively seeking highly qualified candidates including recent doctoral recipients and senior researchers. Applicants must be U.S. citizens and should hold, or anticipate receiving, an earned doctorate in science or engineering. Awards are contingent upon completion of the doctoral degree.
NRC Research Associateship Programs Postdoctoral and Senior Research Awards
The National Academy of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine administers postdoctoral and senior research awards at participating federal laboratories and affiliated institutions at locations throughout the U.S and abroad. All research opportunities are open to U.S. citizens; some are open to U.S. permanent residents and foreign nationals.
We are actively seeking highly qualified candidates including recent doctoral recipients and senior researchers. Applicants should hold, or anticipate receiving, an earned doctorate in science or engineering. Awards are contingent upon completion of the doctoral degree. A limited number of opportunities in select fields are also available for graduate students. Degrees from universities abroad should be equivalent in training and research experience to a degree from a U.S. institution.
The Queen's Commonwealth Competition
The aim of this competition is to encourage young writers from across the globe to explore the many facets of this critical issue. It has offered all Commonwealth youth aged 18 and under the opportunity to express their hopes for the future, opinions of the present, and thoughts on the past, through the written word.
FY2021 National Defense Science and Engineering Graduate Fellowship Program
The DoD NDSEG Program was created to increase the number of US citizens who are trained in science and engineering disciplines that are of military importance. It is a highly competitive fellowship program geared towards helping students to obtain their doctorate degree.
